Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to know anything about the
Army. If you join as an Adult Instructor we will teach you all you need
to know to pass on skills to our cadets.
Our Adult leaders receive training from the Army in the required military
skills and attend courses in youth leadership, safety and adventurous
training - many of which lead to civilian qualifications. They are paid
for some of their time, but that is NOT their motivation.
To be successful at anything you do need to be committed. This means giving
up a night each week, a weekend or day every six to eight weeks and attend
annual camp for one week in the summer. Although financial gain is not
the reason to become a cadet leader, you will receive up to 28 days pay
per year and travelling expenses when necessary.
Being a cadet leader also has its rewards. Our motto
is to “Inspire to Achieve”. All our adults have the personal
satisfaction of knowing that they have assisted young people with opportunities,
which will enable them to become responsible, caring citizens.
Obviously voluntary work of this nature looks good on your CV. It would
be clear to employers that anyone willing to work within the Army Cadet
Force has proven leadership qualities, team building abilities and the
capacity to handle pressure and responsibility.
Before joining as an Adult Instructor you will, of course, be expected
to provide sound referees and undergo a medical, interviews and security
checks, to ensure us that you are suitable to work with children.

Alternatively, we will be holding Open
Evenings on the following dates which you are welcome to attend.

Should you wish to do so, please email
the Web Keeper (thewaltons2@gmail.com)
who will ensure that you are sent any relevant details.
If uniform is not for you but still felt that you would
like to help in a purely civilian status, don’t despair.
Our Detachment Commanders are always very busy during Parade Nights and
would appreciate help with things like running canteens, taking subs,
teaching music to or corps of drums and administration duties. You do
not require any formal qualifications, but you will still have to undertake
the same basic checks and provide referees to assure us of your suitability
to work with children.
If you would like to assist in this way please feel
free to go along to your child’s Detachment, where the Detachment
Commander will be pleased to give you advice or put you in touch with
his Headquarters staff for an informal chat.
