A Pictorial Record of our Annual Camp 2009

It’s 1300hrs, Day One of Camp ...... The kit is here, the HQ is here and the Cadets are on their way. We are ready and raring to go, but an accident on the road somewhere short of here has delayed the cadets arriving...

The Coaches have finally arrived, and 154 cadets have descended upon us... The challenge now is to get everybody into a room......

Following Commandant’s Parade and evening meal the cadets are given a Company briefing before spending the rest of the evening unpacking and visiting the ever popular NAAFI.

2300 hrs – lights out and the first day is already over!

Sunday and it’s a bright morning here at Castle Martin. We are off to a flying start with the cadets up and early for breakfast and looking forward to their Adventure Training Day.  Fifty seven cadets are going to the water for sailing, canoeing and Kayaking and the remainder are taking part in Archery, Rock Climbing, Coastal Walking, Mountain Biking and MTA Command Tasks.
A great day was had by all with some exciting activities taking place...

Monday Range Day
We will be running a number of activities including shooting on the Cdt GP Rifle, The Light Support Weapon, The Cadet Target Rifle, Shotguns, Air Rifles and Paintballs and 30 lucky cadets will be off coasteering in the sea....

Tuesday  Military Skills Day

This is the company’s military skills training package which will be used to hone our cadet’s skills, prior to the 48 hour Commandant’s Field Exercise. A round robin of approximately 20 stands will include the obstacle course, weapons stands, first aid, section attacks, navigation, observation, and skill at arms.

A very useful day and the cadets are now raring to go......

Wednesday & Thursday  Commandant’s 48 hr Exercise

The pictures tell the story - suffice it to say that a great time was had by all.................

Thursday evening and the Corps of Drums prepare to beat retreat before the Sergeants Mess Dinner.
Meanwhile the Adult Instructors change into their glad rags for their Dinner......

.....and the Officers head for the sports field to officate and/or support the cadets during the inter company sports competition.

A Company won:

Friday and effectively the last day of camp.  We are off to Parade practice before the Visitors arrive and then a round robin of stands and competitions to show off our cadet’s achievements and skills.  After lunch we have the Parade proper followed by the County Presentations and Awards.
We won:
Best Cadet 4 Star Cadre
Best Cadet 3 Star Cadre
The Drill Trophy
The Billet Trophy
A superb result for A Compnay - Well done to everyone

The CADET FORCE MEDAL is awarded to Officers and Adult Instructors who have completed 12 years of unbroken, exemplary service to the Army Cadet Force and was presented toSSI Crossley

Finally, after packing the majority of their kit the cadets will go to their end of camp disco – where do they get their energy from?

Saturday and time to clean, finish the packing and say our goodbyes.  A hard, energy filled but totally enjoyable camp was had by all.  Most of the cadets were much quieter on the way home and, as the picture suggests, the Instructors were exhausted!

Thanks to all the cadets for their enthusiasm, hard work and exceptional behaviour which made our camp such a success.

Special thanks must go to all our officers and adult instructors for their extreme hard work and total commitment, ensuring that our cadets had a memorable week.

Bring on Sennybridge 2010.
