Brentwood Road Troop Opens its Doors
Brentwood Road Troop, B Squadron, opened up their doors to the public on 8th July 2009. The Open Evening was designed to give an insight into the kind of activities our cadets get up to during their parade nights on Wednesdays and on training weekends.
It was also an opportunity for the cadets’ parents to come and have a look around the detachment, see what their children get up to and to meet and greet the Instructors at the Detachment.
The event had been well advertised by leaflet drops in the surrounding areas, and offered a great opportunity for potential new recruits and the local community to come and have a look at what the Army Cadet Force has to offer, and will hopefully result in a few new faces popping up around the Detachment.

During the evening there was a demonstration on cooking in the field with ration packs and a number of static stands which included radio equipment, the different weapons used by the cadets, first Aid, archery, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, fieldcraft and most impressively for the visitors, the climbing wall.  (Our thanks must go to SI Stringer and SMI Chiswell for their help with moving and running the wall).
