Honorary Colonel Opens New Detachment at
Dixie Grammar School

On Wednesday 9th April Colonel Richard Everard, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and Honorary Colonel of LNR ACF officially opened Dixie Troop, based at Dixie Grammar School in Market Bosworth.

Colonel Everard said "by joining Dixie Troop today you are joining a youth organisation that offers excitement and comradeship. Although the cadets who choose to join the ACF are not part of the Army, the facilities that are made available offer unrivalled opportunities".
He went on to say "Sport, adventure training and the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award scheme are also available to cadets and are an important part of cadet life".

Mr John Wood, MA, Headmaster at the school said "I have encouraged and now welcome the opening of our new Cadet Detachment within Dixie. Having had cadet units in previous schools, I am convinced of their value and worth".

Dixie Detachment will be affiliated to the 9/12 Lancers, and the 9th detachment for B Squadron which also has detachments in South Leicester, Lutterworth, Hinckley and Desford.
