It was Sunday 13th November and I was about to embark on my first Remembrance Day Parade as the Troop Commander of Dixie detachment.
The weather was fantastic as the cadets formed up for their Inspection by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Dr Wendy Hickling and our former DoE Officer, Major John Ward TD.
At 09:20 sharp the Parade moved off from the fire station in Market Bosworth and marched to St Peters church for the 10am service where Cdt Cpl Barnett played the Last Post and Reveille.
Following the Service the Parade formed up again in Church Street and was then led by the band back to the Market Place where the Wreath Laying Ceremony took place. Cdt L/Cpl Stone and Cdt Cpl Oliver were given the honour of laying our wreath and very smartly and proudly marched out to the war memorial to compete their duty with great dignity.Ater the Parade was dismissed the Troop regrouped at the Dixie Arms in the Market Square, where an ACF Affiliation Ceremony took place.
The affiliation between the ACF & RBL is a great opportunity for the cadets to work alongside the RBL in their cause to help ex-service men & women and their families, at the same time it teaches our cadets respect for the people who have served and died for their country. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Dr Wendy Hickling and the RBL. Chairman, Mr Patrick Durnin presented us with two certificates and I was asked to say a few words in response.
Thank you to all the cadets and instructors for making my first Parade run so smoothly - you made me very proud.
