Oadby and Wigston Flag Raising Ceremony in Honour of
Armed Forces Week.
On Monday 22nd June, four Instructors from B Squadron, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland Army Cadet Force paraded with representatives from the Royal Yeomanry TA, The Royal British Legion, The Air Force and Navy Associations at Oadby & Wigston Borough
Council Offices to raise a special Union Flag to mark the National Armed Forces Week to honour and celebrate the work they do in support of our country.
The flag, which was to be flown throughout the week, was raised by SMI Kirsty Cross as the other standard bearers lowered their banners.
Alongside Councillors Kevin and Helen Loydall, the Mayor and Mayoress of
Oadby & Wigston, and other local councillors the new flag wassaluted by Peter Carr Esquire, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and Lieutenant Colonel Pat Long and Major Alec Masson from the Army Cadet Force.
We are all extremely proud to have been involved in the ceremony and to show our support for our Service men and women, whether veteran or still serving.
