Hinckley Annual Inspection 2009

Hinckley Detachment (B Squdron) had their Annual Inspection on Tuesday 22 September.

This is the most important evening in the detachment’s calendar. It presents an opportunity for the Army, who fund the ACF, to inspect the work each detachment has been doing over the last 12 months. The inspecting officer who, on this occassion, was Major Ian Walton, looks at the administration of the detachment, the cadets’ turnout, and also the training that they have been involved in.

The evening began with an inspection of the cadets by the Inspecting Officer. This offered an opportunity for Major Walton to speak to the cadets and find out about their individual experiences within the ACF.

After inspecting the cadets, Major Walton retired to the office with SSI Turner to inspect the detachment administration while the cadets broke for training.
During the course of the evening’s training, Major Walton walked around the groups to take a look at the training each star group was doing. The training program for the evening was as follows:
Basic stars – ‘Heartstart’, First Aid
1 stars -  Skill at arms (immediate action drills)
2 stars – Map and compass (route cards)
3 starts – Fieldcraft (section battle drills)
4 stars – Lesson plans and methods of instruction.

Once the training was over, the cadets formed up for the final parade which included a few words from the inspecting officer, and also presentations to the cadets. The notable presentations of the evening were:
Best turnout – L/Cpl McNeille

Most Improved Cadet
L/Cpl Wilkes
  • Best Recruit
    Cdt Garrett

Best Cadet – Cpl Millman (pictured left)

Finally there was a promotion to Cpl for L/Cpl Phillips (not pictured)

Congratulations to all those who received awards and to the detachment on the whole who put on an impressive display for Major Walton.
