Proud Cliodhna Appointed Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet
On Monday 24th October cadet staff sergeant Cliodhna Betts, from Glan Parva Troop received her Lord Lieutenant’s badge from Jennifer, Lady Gretton JP, Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire. This exceptional award was presented at a special investiture ceremony at County Hall.
Proud Cliodhna, aged 16, and currently studying for her A levels at Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I Sixth Form College said, “I am very honoured to have been chosen for the prestigious appointment of Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet. When I took part in my first Festival of Remembrance as a cadet in 2007, I knew I wanted to be that cadet and now my ambition has come true. I can see this year being very fulfilling and I look forward to my term in office”.
Chosen from the whole of Leicestershire, cadet staff sergeant Batts has had an outstanding cadet career to date.
As a four star, senior cadet she has attended four annual camps, and numerous Company weekends, where she is now very often the senior female cadet ensuring that those under her care are well managed and looked after.
She is a keen sportswoman and has represented the ACF at Cross Country as well competing in the badminton and netball teams at her school and football with Loughborough Town. She also coaches the Cosby Girls under 11’s football team.
Cliodhna’s parents, Andy & Teresa Betts added, "We are immensely proud of Cliodhna and what she has achieved during her four year cadet career. As 2012 is the Queens Diamond Jubilee Year, we hope that she will be asked to attend many civic events and we look forward to watching her perform her duties ".
