B Squadron held their annual dinner on Saturday 14th January at Rothley Court Hotel in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside. Their guests, Major Andy Ball and RSMI K Cross were both their on the occasion of their dining out.
After pre dinner drinks the mess members enjoyed a four course meal before the OC, Major Ian Walton, rose to deliver his speech and make presentations from the Squadron to their guests. He closed by reminding everyone what an excellent job they did for our young people and thanked them for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the ACF.
Major Ball presented the Squadron with a sum of money to be used for the benefit of the cadets, a book on the history of the 9/12 Lancers and a Framed Picture. SMI Cross presented the Squadron with an engraved glass for each of the eight detachment commanders to use at formal functions.
After the formalities of the speeches, the OC presented the Walton Trophy to the 2011 winners, Dixie Troop and said it was a fitting tribute to its former DC, Captain Alan Emberson, who sadly passed away in September and is sadly missed.
Following the formal dinner, the mess members let their hair down at the disco. |
