B Squadron Cadets Help "The Soldiers' Charity" at Leicester Tiger's March

For the second year running B Squadron attended the local derby between Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints Rugby Clubs where they assisted ABF, The Soldiers' Charity to raise funds. Last year the helped to raise more than £8,000 and hope to exceed that target this year.

The Soldiers' Charity provides lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families, and have been doing so for more than 60 . They help in excess of 4,000 people each year and have recently seen a huge upturn in applications from soldiers who have taken part in previous and current conflicts. The target is to increase fund-raising to £14million a year by 2015 to ensure that they can help each and every soldier that needs their help and they depend entirely on public donations and goodwill to do this.

Our cadets, pictured below, were outside the ground manning the climbing tower and selling goods for the ABF prior to the start of the match, as well as collecting again at half time. They did, of course, also get the opportunity to watch the match!

We have since heard that the Grand total raised on the day was £6,472.96 and Lieutenant Colonel Jack Tarr OBE. the Regional Director of Fundraising, has asked me to pass on his thanks to all those that helped this year - well done!
