C Company Win Combat Cadet 2012
We arrived at Yardley Chase on Friday night determined to win the County competition which would enable us to represent the County in the National competition - and we did just that!
On Friday night we were issued the equipment we need for the weekend which included, amongst other things, our weapons, water proofs & camping beds.
During the weekend were put through eight separate stands. These were:
Section Attack - we were contacted from the front, we split into fire teams and right flanked the enemy whilst giving cover fire.
Fire Control Orders and Skill at Arms - we were split into two teams; one had to answer a few questions and the give an example of fire control order and the other was required to put the GP rifle together blindfolded under the clock and then completed the function test. Once completed, we swapped tasks before coming back together as a section and patrolled out to an observation point. We opened up on three enemy's in different locations and we won this stand.

The Winning Team
Standing L to R: SI L Moore (Adult Instructor). Cdt Cpl Lad, Cdt LCpl Brahmbhatt, SMI A Coyston (Adult Instructor), Cdt CSM Argyle (2i/c team), Cdt Sgt Ward & Cdt RSM Proctor (i/c team)
Kneeling L to R: Cdt Cpl Mewis, Cdt Cpl Spence, Cdt Cpl Glover, Cdt Cpl Bouttier-Butler.
Command Tasks - These were fairly hard as everyone had to be involved and we only had a small amount of equipment. The task was to get a chemical bomb safely without touching the floor; as easy as it sounds we did very badly and came away in last place.
First Aid - the scenario was that a Forward Observation Post had been attacked from a convoy on a nearby road. As we approached the FOB Cdt Sgt Ward scouted the location to analyse the situation. There we re two casualties; one had been shot through the palm of his hand and the other had a serous head injury. We dealt with injury at the location as sentries scanned the FOB, we got the casualty onto a stretcher and patrolled back to the pickup zone. We were successful and won the stand.
Signals, We were given information on the 349 radio and how to operate it. Following this we were tested on setting up the radio and had to answer a few questions on the system. Sadly, not our best stand!
Military Knowledge - 100 questions to the team on all subjects up to three star. Another good stand for us which we also won.
The Vehicle Night Navigation went really well. There were no problems and we cam third.
Orienteering on the Night Navigation went very well as we got nine out of the ten locations even though we were the last section out to do the challenge and the fog filled the training area!!!
The two mile run was around the metal track in area B. We ran in fighting order and completed the run in 17mi. 49 second.
The weekend was a great success and we came away with a winning score of 365 points. The team in 2nd place had 335points.
We were extremely proud to have represented our Company and are now looking forward to representing the County later in the year.
