C “Tiger” Company Cadets help with Poppy Appeal Collection at the King Power Stadium
On Sunday 6th November 2011, eleven cadets were aken from their Priority Weekend at Yardley Chase Training Centre to the Home of Leicester City Football Club, to help with the Poppy Appeal Collection, in aid of the Royal British Legion.
On Arrival at 1300, the Cadets split into pairs and collected a box of Poppies/Sash and a Collection Bucket and proceeded to walk around the Stadium mingling with the Leicester City and Leeds United supporters, who both gave generously to the appeal. At 1430 we reassemble to go into the Stadium and formed an Honour Guard for the Helicopter that arrived with the Match Ball. We then about turned and held a period of remembrance whilst a bugler played “Last Post” before taking iurs seats to watch some of the 1st Half of the game.
During the half time interval, we paraded around the pitch with the Veterans and the other cadets that where there and received great support from both sets of fans - then back to our seats for the reminder of the game.
Unfortunately Leicester City lost 1 – 0, but the day was a great success, and a proud one for all of the cadets and instructors.
