County First Aid Competition

This year’s competition was held at County Headquarters, Tigers Road on Sunday 27th April. As well as the usual Cadet Competition, we also had teams entered for the Youth Competition. This is the first year that we have run a separate stream for Youth teams and it has been well received. A Youth Team is for cadets or young adults aged between 17 and 24 in the year of the Competition, and is an excellent opportunity for senior cadets who are too old to participate in the cadet section any longer.

Despite a smaller than normal turnout, the cadets had an excellent day, and enjoyed themselves very much. We saw some outstanding applications of practical first aid and the standard this year was higher than in previous years.
This years winners of the Cadet Competition were A Company and the runners up were C Company. Both teams will represent LNR ACF at Chilwell, on Sunday 8th June.
The winners of the Youth Competition were also A Company - so a good day out
for them, very well done! D Company were runners up and both teams will go forward to
the Regional Finals. The Commandant, Colonel Steve Davies, presented the winning teams with their awards at the final Parade.
I would like to thank all the staff that made the event possible. This includes all those who took the time to train the teams and bring them along on the day, and also the judges who ensured that high standards were maintained at all times; I am especially grateful to all the adults who acted as casualties in an emergency situation, and saved the day!
