Young Grand Prior and Inter Services First Aid Competition

The 10th Inter Services and Young Grand Prior First Aid Championships took place at the Spa Complex Scarborough on Wednesday 28 November 2007. This event, the UK’s and probably the world’s most prestigious first aid competition, is for the winners or runners up of national first aid competitions and included teams from St John Ambulance, the Order of Malta, St Andrew’s Ambulance Association, Volunteer Police Cadets and the National Schools First Aid Competition as well as Services cadets from the Army Cadet Force, Combined Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.
Three teams each from the ACF, CCF and ATC represented the winners and runners up from their national competitions. The services teams competed for the Inter Services First Aid Trophy but additionally competed with the non services teams for the overall Young Grand Prior Trophy. 18 teams competed for the Young Grand Prior Trophy. The Young Adult event included a further 4 teams.The Grand Prior Trophy was founded by St John Ambulance in 1950 as a competition for the winners of national competitions from industry and the public services.
The Young Grand Prior competition was founded in 1998, with the support of ACFA, for winners of national youth first aid competitions and was won ths year by Cambridge Army Cadet Force.

Cambridge also won the Inter Services Trophy, 51 (Orton) Squadron Air Cadets came second; The Order of Malta Cadet Corps Ballina were third and Leics, Northants & Rutland ACF came fourth
