Roger Finally Hangs Up His Boots
Roger Vine, CAA of E Company and the longest serving permanent staff member has finally hung up his boots and marched off parade.
On Friday 18th November the permanent staff, along with other recently retired staff got together to give Roger a day to remember.
After an early morning round of golf they congregated at County HQ where they had a formal dinner followed by the speeches and presentations before ending the day at the local bowling alley.
After completing 25 years service in the Regular Army, Roger is nearing completion of 25 years as a Sergeant Major Instructor (SMI) with the Army Cadet Force.
Major Richard Breeze, his CEO said, “Roger has worked tirelessly, often in his own time and without remuneration, to help the cadet force and thinks nothing of responding, at a moment's notice, to ensure that the cadet movement succeeds. The hundreds of cadets he has helped over the years have directly benefited from his support and are the better for it. He is an inspiration to everyone around him and is loyal and unswerving; it would be difficult to find many people who have dedicated themselves in this fashion, to constantly help and improve the lives of others - he will be sadly missed by everyone in E Company who he served so well as a CAA, and by County HQ where he has become a legend”.
