Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting 9-16 July 2007 (Bisley)

One team consisting of 5 cadets attended a weeks coaching course at Bisley and then competed in the Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting over the weekend of 14-16 July.

Three of our cadets were placed in the “Cadet 100”. Cdt Sgt Toby Yeomans came 6th, Cdt Sgt “Paddy” Haines 16th and Cdt Liam Jones, who was part of the team for the first time, came a creditable 56th. The other two members of the team were CSM Peplow and Cdt Cottam.

Two of the cadets were selected to shoot for the ACF against the ATC, the SCC and the Canadian Teams, Yeomans for the “A” Team scored 47.7 and Haines for the “B” team who scored a sensational 49.5 out of 50.

Cdt Sgt Yeomans won a gold medal as part of the winning Inter Service Team and after a shoot off with a cadet from Derbyshire ACF, Cdt Sgt Haines won a gold medal for the best shot of the competition and the Somerset Cup as best Army shot.

Cdt Haines has been entered for selection to the Athelings in 2008. This is a very high level shooting tour in Canada and is extremey prestigious – we wish Cdt Haines the very best of luck.

Congratulations must also go to SMI Ritchie and SI Fisher for organising and coaching the team.
