Cadets Support Kettering Carnival 2011

Kettering Cadets recently supported their local Carnival. As well as a recruiting stand, we helped set up a marquee and took part in the Parade.

The day started early as we set up our own stand, starting with our tent followed by cam netting, stocks, small displays, teddy tombola and banners. As soon as we had finished the cannon arrived and we got that setup ready for the Carnival procession.

At 13.00hrs we set out on the Parade, pulling the cannon through the town. We raised money on route by shalking pur collection buckets. Following the Parade, we returned to our stand, where we had lots of visitors who thoroughll enjoyed throwing sponges at the cadets in the stocks. Some cadets handed out leaflets and Cdt Cpl Piddington manned the teddy tombola stall where he managed to to raise a fantastic £40 for the detachment and the Local blind Association.

It was a fantastic day and hopefully we will see some new recruits to our detachment. We also won the 2nd best walking party in the procession.

Many thanks SSI Rogers for organizing the event and to the other adults and the cadets who helped out on the day.
