Proud Wellingborough Cadet Appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Northamptonshire
On Tuesday 11th October, Cadet Company Sergeant Major Connor Aldrich received his Lord Lieutenant’s badge from Lady Juliet Townsend LVO, the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire. This exceptional award was presented at a special investiture ceremony at Newbottle Manor.

Connor aged 17, said, “I am very proud of what I have achieved in the Army Cadet Force and consider myself extremely honoured to be appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, As it is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 I hope to be kept very busy and I am really looking forward to carrying out my duties. This appointment is the highlight of my cadet career and I’m sure that I will remember it for years to come”.

Chosen from the whole of Northamptonshire, Connor has had an outstanding cadet career to date.  As a three star, senior cadet he has attended two annual camps, and completed his Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.  He has attended not one, but two six week long, Canada Cadet Leadership Courses.  The 2nd was by invitation, to attend as a staff cadet, and as this is limited to only the very best cadets, shows how highly he was regarded by his Canadian Instructors.  He is also a keen sportsman and as well as attending our ski exercise in Italy earlier this year he plays rugby for Wren School and Wellingborough Colts.

Connor’s parents added, "We are extremely proud of Connor and grateful for the opportunities afforded to him through the Army Cadet Force including his two summer leadership courses in Canada.  His appointment as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet is a wonderful honour and we are confident he will carry out his duties with enthusiasm and pride".
