Market Harbrough Cadets Attends Parade to Celebrate 90 Years of the
British Legion Poppy Appeal
This year marks the 90th Anniversary of the poppy appeal and all across the country local British Legion Branches are marking the event by holding celebration parades.
With the sun shinning on a Sunday afternoon, Market Harborough detachment prepared themselves for the Town's Drumhead Service to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Town's War Memorial.
At the appropriate time the detachment, with it's Banner flying, marched smartly down to Market Square to join Councillors, the local branch of the Royal British Legion and other uniformed services around the memorial.
The service, which was lead by Rev John Morley, mentioned extracts from the original speech given by the Bishop of Peterborough back in 1921 when the Memorial was first unveiled. During which the service Market Harboroughs Band played the Last Post.
Special thanks to SIBullock and Lt Marriott who attended the service with the detachment.
