Rothwell Cadets Turn Out In Force For Poppy Appeal Collection

On the afternoon of Saturday the 12th November we met up at the Detachment to help the British Legion with their Poppy Appeal in Rothwell.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the number of cadets that gave up their Saturday afternoon to help out and, after completing a nominal role, and with the help of Mrs Smallbones, we laid on a light lunch for everyone. We then distibuted the poppy boxes and collecting tins and SI Brandon gave out the routes to each pair of cadets. Two were stationed outside Tesco, two outside the Co-op and the remainder collected door to door.

Collection boxes full, we returned the cadets to the detachment, held a debrief and took a detachment photograph.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the cadets, who did a fantastic job, to SI Brandon for organising the afternoons fundraising and to Mrs Smallbones for our lunch.
