D Company NewsMy Senior Cadet Weekend - By Cdt Cpl JoshuaAfter arriving at Yardley Chase we began preparing for our weekend. On Saturday we learnt how to extract orders and how to use and construct a model kit. Following that we went into the field and we were taught how to move our section through a section attack before returning to camp and preparing for our ambush on the four star cadets. Once back on the area we set and carried out our ambush before finding our way back to camp with just a map. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the weekend as it was dark and we had to use several skills to navigate back to base.
Sunday, we were taught re-sections as part of the map and compass training out on the area and once again had to navigate our wat back in to camp. Our last lessons were on drill and included cane and banner drill. Having been a standard bearer for my Detachment on many occasions I enjoyed this but found the cane drill the most interesting and learnt a lot about it. Overall I really enjoyed the weekend and came away having learnt a lot. Cdt Cpl Joshua |
