Unusually, on 23rd January St Georges Detachment was filled with plenty of adults and no Cadets !
Today was the day for our officers and adult instructors to receive their training on the new L98A2 Cadet GP rifle and to ensure that their skills were sufficient enough to tthen teach the cadets.
The team were split into four training groups:
Headquarters, those who should fly through their test, those who are a little more unsure and finally, those who have hardly ever trained with a weapon.
And, contrary to all the runours, Captain Paul Davanna did indeed attend the training day; to prove it, he insisted that we took a photograph of his name tape!
Who did you bribe to wear your jacket Paul?.......
It was a very successful day, with all the training groups putting in lots of effort and concentration. We ironed out all the "what if's" ready for the cadet who always has the one question you didn't think would be asked.
Following the Training we held a short but infomative company meeting covering various topics relevent to training as well as several events occuring in the next six months. The include the use of Westmister, the ACF database and Cadet 150.
Day done and it was time for the weapons to be moved to their new homes ready for cadet training to commence!
Just one day, but enough to prove to some of our cadets that we do work without them around as well!
