The day saw 5 x 3 stars in the range shooting the no.8,
two at a time for up to 2 hours each. This was to allow them a decent
amount of familiarisation prior to a testing phase.
|
Some of the senior cadets needed it
others did not. I ended up with Cpl Dunstan and LCpl Farrant who managed
to score high enough and improve enough from previous to not only
pass but to gain a "marksman's" score. |
We also ran an NCO testing day
for cadets who have completed, or near to completing their 2 star.
The 10 cdts were tested in taking a squad at drill, commanding a
command task, in a formal interview, being questioned under pressure
on a problem solving exercise and complete a 5 minute talk |

The assessment is made by an Adult and
2 senior cadet NCO's; there is a formal marking and assessment
process and only those who make the grade will be promoted this time.
|
The
aim of the day is to ensure that those who are promoted are able
to cope with the demands of being a junior NCO and to start the
process of personal development which will assist them at a later
stage be it going for job interviews or for promotion interviews
