Cadet Assist at Marie Curie Cancer Care Walk
The Marie Cure Cancer Care Walk Ten happens once a year and E Company were asked to assist once again.
A healthy number of Cadets from Corby III, Alexandra and a willing Lance Corporal Weston from PWS were all eager to come along and marshal the route which the walkers would be taking part in.
As well as helping the Cadets pass their Cadet in the Community, this was a perfect opportunity for all of us to show that we support such a good cause and this was an atmosphere that stayed with us throughout the evening.
Once scattered around the "track", which the walkers cover twice, on our posts, we were eager for the walkers to start so we could cheer them on; a lot of us were even practicing our skills with the pom poms given to us!
Lots of motivational support was given to the walkers as they carried out their walk all were congratulated during their final lap of the grounds.
Just like last year, it was a very good evening and all the cadets enjoyed themselves, the hog roast at the end was outstanding!
However, my favourite part of the evening was hearing a charity worker tell Captain Smales how impressed he was with the level of maturity and skill of the Cadets; how well they used initiative, understanding and adaptability and basically how thankful he was to have worked with us. This alone made me very proud to have been the senior Cadet there that evening.
Well done to all of you that attended and thank you.
