Daffodil Run 2008

On Sunday 27th April, 8 cadets from Corby III assisted Marie Curie In its annual "Great Daffodil Run" at Kelmarsh Hall Northamptonshire. We managed the first water station on the 10K route, this then doubled up as the first and 6th water station on the 15 mile run.

We were deluged on the first 10K run by runners, it seemed like there were about 2000 all wanting water at the same time, the 15 mile run which had more serious runners in did not have the same initial rush for water.

The 8 cadets, the Company Commander and I managed to open 1000 water bottles, then at the end of the day re-screwed 200 bottle tops back on, Cpl Britton and Cdt Curran assisted a couple of ladies on water point two so were put into he unenviable position of assisting in opening our bottles then doing it all again at another water station!

The weather remained sunny despite the BBC advising us of rain which assisted not only us in staying dry but also in getting a good turn out of runners for Marie Curie.

We have booked the same job again next year.
