VISIT BY HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS ROYAL
ON THE OCCASSION OF THE REBADGING OF
MELTON MOWBRAY DETACHMENT TO BLUES AND ROYALS

Melton Mowbray detachment was honoured to receive a visit by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal on Thursday 28th February 2008 to perform the rebadging of the detachment to the Blues and Royals.

Having been met by Jennifer, Lady Gretton JP, the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Her Royal Highness was introduced to Colonel Paddy Tabor MV RHG/D, The Commander, Household Cavalry and Silver Stick-in-Waiting, Colonel Richard Everard, the Honorary Colonel, Colonel Stephen Davies, the Commandant, Major Alec Masson the Cadet Executive Officer, and Major Mandy Davanna, E Company Commander, all of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force.

After the introductions Her Royal Highness met the Detachment Commander, 2Lt Mark Whitehead, who asked permission to proceed with the rebadging ceremony.


The Princess personally presented new berets and badges to the Adult Instructors and the 45 cadets on parade and spoke individually to each of them in turn.

Following the ceremony, 100 assembled guests, including representatives from the local Council, the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association and 49 (East) Brigade, as well as parents and relatives of the cadets, were all allowed the opportunity of speaking to Her Royal Highness.
