Corby III v William the Conqueror!

20th April saw Corby III deploy to secure Rockingham Caste from Supporters of William the Conqueror. The Cadets had been briefed that the supporters believed that the castle and all that William stood for should be returned to French ownership.

12 hours of security patrolling ensured that the castle remained in the hands of Mr James Saunders-Watson and British.

Cadets patrolled all round the castle grounds and gardens to ensure the castle and family remained secure. There were 3 sections with 2 always on patrol the third manning HQ. All areas of the castle seemed to be probed many times throughout the night but the supporters failed to attack and take the castle back into French control.

Cadets were also sponsored by friends and family for this mamouth task. 50% of the money raised is being given to the Local Hospice in Corby, the remainder will purchase some new equipment for the detachment.

One comment from a cadet was “it was cool to be able to train somewhere different especially somewhere as special as Rockingham Castle.”
