Cadets Collect for ABF, The Soldiers' Charity at Oakham
Saturday the 8th October saw cadets from both the Rutland detachments turn out to man a stand in the entrance of the Oakham Tesco’s to collect on behalf the Army Benevolent fund, the Solders Charity.
This was part of a regional campaign supported by Tesco’s and ran over two days, with solders from St Georges barracks collecting in Oakham on the 7th.
Over those two days £1,449 was donated by people visiting the Tesco’s store at Oakham. The tins and buckets became so heavy that by the end of Saturday, some of the cadets were having great difficulty holding them for any length of time!
Col Tarr the regional organiser for the ABF thanked the cadets for their commitment and the wonderful amount they collected and Lt Col David Young, the local organiser, adding his thanks, saying how impressed he was at how hard the cadets had worked.
A big thank you to Tesco’s who fed and watered the cadets all day for free; the bacon rolls went down a treat!
Well done to all the cadets involved.
