Ashby Troop Open Night

It was time for the Ashby detachment Open Night once again and more than 20 parents accepted our invitation to join us. The aim of the night was to give them an insight into the ACF activities the cadets can be involved in.

After a welcome address by the DC, SSI Bates, the parents and guests were introduced to F Sqn’s Commanding Officer Major Ian Flamson, who gave a presentation on the ACF and some of the activities that F SQN cadets have undertaken recently.

Following the briefing the guests were invited to visit the stands that were being manned by the cadets and staff. These included Skill at Arms, Field Craft, First Aid, D of E, Map and Compass. They kept the staff and cadets busy on the stands by asking numerous questions and hopefully, they all went away with a better understanding of what we do. There was also a display of the trophy’s and awards that the cadets had won in the last year and a slide show of Ashby & F Sqn cadets on annual camp at West Tofts which was well received.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the cadets and adult staff for making the night a great success.
