District Cadets and Royal British Legion Forge New And Stronger Links

At a unique ceremony on Friday 19 January all seven detachments of ‘F’ (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Squadron of the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force, affiliated to their local branches of the Royal British Legion.

In the presence of the Chairman of North West Leicestershire, Councillor David Whetton, and more than fifty members of the Army Cadet Force and the Royal British Legion, signed certificates of affiliation were exchanged.

Major Andy Ball, Officer Commanding F Squadron explained, ‘Both the Army Cadet Force and the Royal British Legion do tremendous work in the community. Our Cadets have much to learn from those who have served their country in the past and I hope that the Royal British Legion, in turn, are able to learn more about not only our work but also the commitment young people show to their community.’

The affiliation will mean that the Cadets and British Legion will strengthen their work at a local level for the benefit of both organisations.
